Eyecandy for the open/save dialogs ! (take 2 !)
Well, you guys gave me nice input. I am very thanked because all your comments and suggestions. Transitions now are faster, and I think you get a nice feeling when using it. They are smooth, but fast.
You can download the video from here. I uploaded it to youtube:

Thanks for the video. The dialog looks beautiful. I love how responsive it is to the mouse. It makes the open/save dialog so much more usable when the preview is as responsive as it is in the video.
Awesome!
It’s this kind of polish that KDE needs. It makes the user experience that much more functional, easy and nice to look to at.
Very nice, one thing I don’t like in the open-save dialog is that the toolbar icons intersect with the navigation bar that lists the folders. They should be spaced apart more, or perhaps the design made a little different so that one can differentiate between them. Great job on the eye candy btw!
Can we have the same transition for Dolphin’s preview pane as well? It’s soo much smoother than the shrink/expand effect that it currently uses for its previews and file icons. Pretty please?
the preview of the kde logo at the end of the video do not seems to keep the good height ratio
Why not just replace the preview with the nepomuk info like the one in dolphin that one already have nice animations too, these things just look naked (in a bad way) and leaves space unused.
Something that I just saw in gnome desktop and is – in my eyes really helpful – a search-option in the open-dialog, because opening file is one of the moments where file-searching plays a big role! the gnome guys said thid quite nicely (“The file chooser dialog now shows the … and can use desktop search systems such as Beagle or Tracker, making it easier to find your files when you need them, without interruption.”) and indeed it improoves user-friendlyness a lot. (example: http://www.gnome.org/start/2.20/notes/en/figures/rnusers-gtkfilechooser-search.png). nevertheless, the preview is really useful and looks nice. I love those youtube previews!

If you have the kio-locate, just type locate:searchitem (replace searchitem with the thing you’re looking for) in the location bar.
Sure, a better GUI could be helpful.
